Graham Cooper, a former Editor of Risk magazine, founded Fulton Publishing Limited together with Mark Nicholls in October 1999 shortly after the advent of the Kyoto Protocol and the creation of carbon emissions trading.
Today the Company’s publications and major events are established critical sources of information and analysis for professionals covering the environment in banking, multi-lateral institutions, governments and the corporate sector.
Fulton Publishing publishes two highly respected subscription-based titles: Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance, as well as organizing conferences and webinars key among which are Carbon Finance, hosted in London; and Carbon Finance North America, hosted in New York.
Field Gibson Media Limited, owned by Peter Field, who founded Risk magazine and sold Risk Waters Group to Incisive Media in 2003, and Tony Gibson, former chief executive of Financial News, has acquired Fulton Publishing for an undisclosed sum. Bertoli Mitchell acted on behalf of the shareholders of Fulton Publishing, Graham Cooper and Mark Nicholls.
Field Gibson Media produces the specialist news and analysis service Insurance ERM, which serves finance, risk, actuarial, technology and regulatory professionals in insurance. The service was started at the end of 2008 and moved to a paid subscription model in March 2011.
Peter Field said "There is a lot of activity by reinsurers and insurers in the environmental area so Fulton is a logical fit. We have a lot of ideas about how to expand our coverage of this area and we have the capital to do this."
"We see a number of synergies between the two companies and are delighted to have the expertise of Field Gibson Media to help grow the business," said Graham Cooper.
Peter Field will become chairman of Fulton and Gibson managing director. All the staff are expected to remain, with Graham Cooper taking on a consulting role for Insurance ERM, as well as Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance. Mark Nicholls will continue as editorial director at Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance.
