Nelson Croom and accountingcpd acquired by The Learning People

(January 2022)

Bertoli Mitchell is delighted to announce that it advised the shareholders of Nelson Croom in the sale The Learning People

Online CPD provider accountingcpd, and its publisher Nelson Croom Ltd have been acquired by Learning People. The deal secures an exciting future for accountingcpd, its publisher Nelson Croom, and its partners, customers and employees. Bertoli Mitchell advised the shareholders of Nelson Croom Ltd in this deal.

The Learning People business has been built on helping people who are just starting out, to begin a career in IT, but they have ambitious plans to expand both vertically and horizontally. Learning People itself was only recently bought by the same investment company, Cow Corner, that is funding the acquisition of accountingcpd. Their overarching vision is to build a learning organisation to help people in a variety of sectors, to get into their chosen profession, continue to progress through their careers, and help them find their next job.

“The opportunities that this deal presents for accountingcpd are vast.” says Alan Nelson. “With Learning People there is potential to extend our offering for accountants, and to help provide Continuing Professional Development opportunities in other sectors. That’s on top of continuing the strong growth we have seen in recent years, of our core CPD offering for accountants.”

Learning People are keen to develop more into the corporate learning market where there are synergies with accountingcpd and, although based in Dublin and Brighton in Europe, Learning People also have offices in Australia and New Zealand. There are significant expansion plans in those markets.

Dan Ferrandino, CEO of Learning People explains “Acquiring accountingcpd is a demonstration of our ambition to invest in, and grow, our business. It adds more talent and capability into the business and there is no doubt that accountingcpd will contribute to our success in what I increasingly see as our mission – realising potential, that of our students, professionals, colleagues and our business overall.”

The current team at accountingcpd are staying in place and accountingcpd will continue to be run by Alan Nelson and Jacqui Nelson.
